SUBJECT: 555 17t" Street (555 Building) Mold Remediation Project Update
The purpose of this LTC is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the 555 17th Street
facility (555 Building) mold remediation project. The Code Compliance Department and the
Office of Housing and Community Services will be relocating back from 1661 Pennsylvania
Avenue on January 3rd- 5th 2018.
Normal operations will be disrupted during relocation including:
The closure of the homeless and resident support service functions. Normal operations
will resume on Monday, January 8th.
The closure of the Code Compliance lobby Wednesday and Thursday (January 3-4,
2018). To report potential Code violations or to speak with a supervisor on duty please
call 305.604.CITY (2489). Field personnel will continue working their regular schedules.
Normal office operations should resume on Friday, January 5, 2018.
The extent of the work included:
1. Removal of all debris from roof, scuppers and drains
2. Repairs of cracks in parapet wall, stucco, and fascia
3. Installation of parapet flashing, seal all roof leaks and roof weak spots with SBS roofing cement
4. Fill all pitch pockets, repair and fill built up roof
5. Exterior stucco repairs
6. Caulking and sealing of all exterior windows, clean metal and glass for proper watertight joints
7. Replacement of all compromised drywall by mold, moisture or any other damage
8. Replacement of all telecommunication wiring, ports and drops
9. Removal of all carpet, baseboard, and thresholds replaced with new tile, vinyl baseboards and new
thresholds
10. Removal of all hazardous material including mold, asbestos, and contaminants in the air
11. Removal of all asbestos material in HVAC ductwork, air diffusers and air grills. Replaced with new
12. Installation of VFD's (variable frequency drives) at both units to regulate ventilation and reduce
indoor pollutant levels
13. All interior lights replaced with new LED fixtures
14. All interior acoustical grid and tiles replaced with new
15. Replacement of kitchen cabinets with new due to mold build up within fiber board
Minor work will still have to be performed at the 555 building since there will be some punch list

items pending but they shouldn't interfere in any way with the department's operations. Over the
next two weeks, Property Management will be completing:
1. Interior and exterior paint, including pressure washing of coral stone and sealer
2. Installation of window treatments
