A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, ON BEHALF OF THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT, TO ACCEPT A TESTAMENTARY GIFT OF $5,000.00 FROM THE THEODORE R. STRUHL, M.D. TRUST, FOR THE PURCHASE OF AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS TO BE USED BY THE MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, Theodore R. Struhl, M.D., a practicing physician in the City of Miami Beach, died on April 23, 2011; and WHEREAS, Theodore R. Struhl's surviving children Ms. Karsten Struhl and Wendy Struhl, and Trustees of the Theodore R. Struhl M.D. Trust, amended on July 23, 2004, bequeathing $5,000.00 to the City of Miami Beach Police Department; and WHEREAS, the Trust Agreement requests that a $5,000.00 gift be given to the Miami Beach Police Department or its successors in interest, to use as it deems appropriate; and WHEREAS, the $5,000.00 will be used to purchase automatic external defibrillators for Miami Beach Police Department personnel to utilize as a life saving device in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission for the City of Miami Beach hereby authorizes the City of Miami Beach, on behalf of the Miami Beach Police Department, to accept a testamentary gift of $5,000.00 from the Theodore R. Struhl, M.D. Trust, for the purchase of automatic external defibrillators to be used by the Miami Beach Police Department . PASSED and ADOPTED this lgitj1 day of December, 2011.
