Qualifying Period Post Card Reminder Aug 20 2013 COURTESY REMINDER
Qualifying by Petition — Pursuant to Section 6.03 of the City Charter, a candidate
desiring to qualify by petition, in lieu of paying the Municipal Qualifying Fee, shall file a
petition approving his/her candidacy signed by no less than two percent (2%) of the
qualified and registered voters in the City,as the same shall be sixty(60)days prior to the
first day of qualifying as a candidate for office. As of July 5, 2013, the 60t1 day prior to
September 3, 2013, the first day of qualifying as a candidate for office, the Miami-Dade
County Elections Department reported that there were 44,009 qualified and registered
voters in the City of Miami Beach. Hence, the number of signatures from qualified and
registered City voters necessary to qualify by petition is 880.
Petitions must be submitted and filed with the Office of the City Clerk no
later than NOON on Tuesday,August 20,2013.
