This petition is for a candidate seeking to qualify for office in the City of Miami Beach. The City Charter, under§6.03 requires the verification of 898 qualified and registered voter signatures in order for the petition to be sufficient.' Please verify signatures in accordance with Miami Beach Charter §6.03 and State law. John Elizabeth Aleman filed intent to run for office on April 2, 2015. (Date the candidate filed the DS-DE 9 — Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository for Candidates.) The City Charter, under §6.03 requires the City Clerk to notify the candidate by 5:00 p.m. on September 9, 2015 whether the required number of valid signatures was obtained. Ms. Aleman reports that she collected the signatures of 1,423 qualified and registered Miami Beach voters. Pursuant to F.S. 99.097 (4), enclosed is a check for $142.30 (1,423 signatures x $0.10 processing fee) as advance payment for the processing of the petition. As of July 10, 2015, sixty days prior to the first day of qualifying as a candidate for office, the amount of registered voters in Miami Beach was 44,906. Hence, the number of signatures from qualified and registered City voters necessary to qualify by petition is 898.
