OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER

LETT R TO COMMISSION
TO: Mayor Dan Gelber and Members f the City Co mission
FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manage
DATE: January 28, 2019
SUBJECT: VENDOR ADVOCATE HELP DE K
The Administration is committed to continuing to build a diverse vendor network of
contractors and suppliers. In an effort to provide a higher level of assistance to our
vendor partners with a number of cross-departmental issues such as unpaid invoices,
work disputes, and compliance matters, the Procurement Department has established
the Vendor Advocate Help Desk.
The Vendor Advocate Help Desk will be staffed by personnel that are familiar in
resolving cross-departmental issues. The primary goal of this initiative is to have a one
stop shop that can assist vendors with any multitude of issues that they may be having
in doing business with the City, regardless of where the issue may originate. Another
goal is to be able to centrally collect data on the types of issues that vendors are having
in trying to do business with the City. The data collected will allow the Administration to
further streamline our processes to make sure that we are truly a business-friendly city.
I encourage you and your aides to refer any vendor issues that may come to your
attention to the Vendor Advocate Help Desk. The contact information for the Vendor
Advocate Help Desk is VendorSupport(a MiamiBeachFL.gov or 305-673-7490, option 2.
Beginning in March, I will be forwarding to you a quarterly report outlining the data
collected and the steps taken to improve any related process.
