Below please find the monthly update for active City of Miami Beach construction projects under
the purview of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).
42nd Street Improvements
Scope: 42nd is a one-way two lane corridor between Pine Tree Drive and Prairie
Avenue. Traffic studies confirmed that making this a two-way road will improve traffic
and benefit safety at the intersection of Pine tree Drive and 42nd street by providing
signalized pedestrian crossings. Existing traffic signals at the intersection of Pine Tree
Drive and 42nd street will be retrofitted to serve eastbound traffic.
Status: Contractor has mobilized
Anticipated Completion: July 2019
Altos Del Mar Park
Scope: Park Improvements include new landscape, irrigation, site lighting, sand
volleyball courts, walkways, terraced lawn, and new restroom building.
Status: Construction began April 2018. Project is 65% complete
Anticipated Completion: March 2019
Beach Lifeguard Towers Replacement
Scope: Construction of 35 lifeguard towers.
Status: Construction began March 2015. Thirty-one towers have been completed and
placed at their final location. The final four towers are currently under construction at a
staging site at 79`h street, adjacent to the beach. Two towers are nearing completion
and are scheduled to be moved to their final location in the first week of February, and
the two final towers will should be completed and moved to their final location within the
next 60 days.
Anticipated Completion: Spring 2019
Beachwalk II — Phase 2
Scope: Construction of an on-grade ADA compliant pedestrian paver walkway running
from 3rd Street to 5th Street, with turtle friendly lighting, landscaping and irrigation.
Status: Construction began March 2018. Security cameras were added to the project
scope and extended the construction completion time. Project is 85% complete.
Anticipated Completion: February 2019

Carl Fisher Clubhouse Restoration
Scope: Historical restoration of the Carl Fisher Clubhouse (interior and exterior) and
adjacent site and landscaping work. This project is part of the Convention Center
Renovation Project.
Status: Notice to proceed with construction was issued on December 7, 2018. The
contractor has mobilized and is nearing completion of the selective demolition task.
Anticipated Completion: October 2019
Collins Park Parking Garage
Scope: Demolition of existing structure and construction of a new parking facility which
consists of a six (6) level parking garage with 513 parking spaces and approximately
15,000 SF of retail spaces at the ground level. Liberty Avenue will be closed and used
for vehicular ingress and egress from 23rd Street to the Collins Park Garage. The
balance of the roadway (to 22nd Street) is planned as a pedestrian plaza with associated
amenities.
Status: Design is 95% complete. Demolition is complete. Site remediation is 95%
complete. Installation of the foundation test piles is complete and loading test is ongoing.
Anticipated Completion: February 2020
Central Bayshore South Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements bounded by 34th St. to the north, Pine Tree Dr. to
the east, 28 St. to the south, Prairie Ave to the west and Meridian Ave from 28 St. to
Dade Blvd.
Status: Water main installation is complete. Drainage design is currently at 75%. The
Urban Land Institute (ULI) recently completed a review of the City's stormwater
management program. The City awarded Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. to act as
Master Design Consultant for the City's resiliency initiatives and to develop and lead a
multi-disciplinary, integrated sea-level rise mitigation and stormwater management
strategy, with an innovative and adaptable approach. It is the intention of the City to
have the Master Consultant review the stormwater criteria for this project. Temporary
paving has been completed on Prairie Avenue.
Anticipated Completion: N/A
Flamingo Park Fitness Cluster
Scope: Constructing a new outdoor Fitness Area in Flamingo Park to include new ADA
accessible fitness equipment, new concrete pathways, a new canopy shade structure,
added lighting, as well as drainage, landscape and irrigation improvements.
Status: Design is 100% complete. Notice to proceed with construction was issued on
January 24, 2019.
Anticipated Completion: March 31, 2019
Flamingo Park Handball Courts
Scope: Renovation of existing handball courts to include various electrical upgrades,
new general lighting, stucco repairs, court resurfacing, new frameless windows and
doors and new fencing and painting. The courts will also include seating areas and water
drinking fountains for players and visitors.
Status: Notice to proceed with construction was issued on January 8, 2019. At the
request of residents and players, construction is now being phased to allow for
continuous use and has extended the construction time an extra 90 days.

Construction has begun and is 8% complete.
Anticipated Completion: October 2019
Flamingo Parkwide Improvements - Phase I
Scope: Park wide renovations to include landscape, irrigation & drainage improvements,
as well as addition and renovation of walkways and pedestrian lighting.
Status: Notice To Proceed #1 has been issued and construction is anticipated to start in
early February 2019.
Anticipated Completion: July 2019
Middle Beach Recreational Corridor Ph. 2 — Section 2 (Beachwalk)
Scope: Construction of an on-grade pedestrian walkway encompassing eight (8) City
blocks from 46 St to 53 St.
Status: Construction began March 2018. Project is 35% complete.
Anticipated Completion:April 2019
North Shore Bandshell Canopy
Scope: Design, manufacture and install a custom canopy at the North Beach Band Shell
facility. The area of coverage for the canopy is approximately 4,000 square feet.
Status: Contract is being executed. Notice to proceed with construction is expected to be
issued early February.
Anticipated Completion: November 2019
Palm & Hibiscus Island Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on Palm and Hibiscus Islands.
Status: Construction began January 2016. The project is 95% complete. Additional
scope of work related to new drainage policy was approved at the October 2018
Commission meeting. Project substantial completion will include the installation of the
permanent generators.
Anticipated Completion: September 2019
Stormwater Pump Station at 19th Street
Scope: Installation of a stormwater pump station, including an emergency generator and
seawall reconstruction along Collins Canal.
Status: Construction of the pump station and seawall began January 2018. Project is
98% complete (not including the Botanical Garden Expansion and Carl Fisher Seawall)
and pump station is scheduled for completion January 2019. The Botanical Garden
Expansion is anticipated for completion April 2019. The Carl Fisher Seawall is pending
permit issuance by RER, FDEP and Army Corp.
Anticipated Completion: June 2019
Surface Parking Lot P2 — Nikki Beach (Penrods)
Scope: Reconstruction of the parking lot that includes landscaping, turtle friendly lighting,
improvements to storm water drainage, irrigation, paving and signage, and infrastructure
for future electric car charging stations.
Status: Construction began May 1, 2018. Project is 65% complete.
Anticipated Completion: March 2019

Venetian Islands Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on San Marino, Dilido and Rivo Alto Islands.
Status: Construction began May 2013. Project is 97% complete. Premature asphalt
pavement stress cracks have developed since the installation of the first lift of asphalt on
all three islands. The City, Engineer of Record and Contractor are evaluating the cause
and ultimate remediation of this condition. The Administration is in communication with
the Venetian Islands Homeowners Association representatives regarding these details.
Pumps at Rivo Alto Islands are completed and pending FPL power and final restoration
of the easement area.
Anticipated Completion: March 2019 (not including roadway restoration)
West Avenue Phase II Improvements - North of 14th Street
Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements north of 14th Street to Lincoln Lane.
Status: A Change Order to implement the ULI and Resilience Accelerator
recommendations and other elements added by the Design Criteria Professional was
approved by Commission on December 12, 2018. Administration is currently in
negotiations with the Design/Builder to incorporate these recommendations. It is
anticipated to have a revised construction schedule by mid-February, as the Design
Criteria Package is being revised.
Anticipated Completion: TBD
West Avenue Phase II Improvements - South of 14th Street
Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements south of 14th Street to 6th Street.
Status: A Change Order to implement the ULI and Resilience Accelerator
