SUBJECT: Kickoff Meeting for the Business i ase Analysis for the Stormwater Resilience Program
I am pleased to share that the staff kickoff meeting for the Business Case Analysis was held on
Tuesday February 5th, 2019. This exciting project is an innovative study to understand and
communicate the value of our stormwater resilience investments.
At the kickoff, the consultant team (Attachment 1) met with me, the resilience team from my office
as well as several departments, including Building, Communications, Environment and
Sustainability, Finance, Human Resources, Planning and Public Works to provide their
perspectives and expertise. The purpose of the kickoff meeting was to share information about
the project (scope, objectives, intended outcomes, points of engagement), gather information
from City staff about the needs of the primary audience for the results, and to ensure the
consultant team was aware of any additional information, data, or other resources.
I .' ; ,'`— The visit also included a tour of First
I' Street to examine the City's planned

gine
investments options (flood barriers,
, , l elevating structures, relocating electrical

# i As next steps, the consultant will begin
risk modeling, integrated flood modeling,
• ,\:,_,+ . • and hedonic pricing modeling
/4` (Attachment 2). The results will enable
$ l $ the cost and benefit analyses for an
individual home, at the neighborhood-
I level, and citywide.
Routine updates will be provided at the Sustainability and Resiliency Committee. The timeline of
the project is estimated to be one year (Attachment 3).
