For the City of Miami Beach to esta !ish a boat mooring field in Sunset
Harbor-Purdy Basin
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to transmit a Resolution adopted by the
Marine and Waterfront Protection Authority (MWPA) at its January 2019 meeting. The board
has passed a resolution urging the City to act on its February 12, 2018 LTC which made a
recommendation to establish a mooring field within the waters of the City of Miami Beach.
The Resolution reads as follows:
The MWPA passed a resolution supporting the creation of a mooring field and
associated facilities in Sunset Harbor to accommodate cruising vessels. The
MWPA supports the mooring field either with an outside operator that could
either be a sole proprietor or work as a Public/Private Partnership.
This committee sees the establishment of the mooring field as a matter of
both public and environmental safety.
Action: Motion for this resolution was made by Caitlin Waks, seconded by Dr. Morris Sunshine
(Vote: 10-1) Resolution passed.
