NO. LTC # LE TER TO COMMISSION
TO: Mayor Dan Gelber and Members of he City C, mission
FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager
DATE: March 8, 2019
SUBJECT: Sidewalk Café Incentive Program U date
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide information to the Mayor and City
Commission regarding the incentive program approved by the City Commission to activate
sidewalk areas in the North Beach area with tables and chairs from local restaurants.
The incentive program entails identifying areas on the sidewalk where a restaurant can take up
to two (2)tables and eight(8)chairs from their interior seating. This allows a restaurant to explore
the business model of outdoor seating along the sidewalk without undergoing the expense of
obtaining a sidewalk café permit.
We are please to announce that Bodegon located at 1014 71st Street has successfully completed
the requirements of the program. Additional restaurants have been approached with the attached
flyer.
Should you have any questions, please contact myself or Jay Fink at 305-673-7080.

INCENTIVE PROGRAM J ;
w
immimmis
Through the North Beach Master Plan process, the City of Miami Beach proprosed an incentive
program for North Beach restaurants, north of 63 Street, to activate the sidewalks in commercial areas.
This program will allow cafes to obtain a sidewalk cafe permit, allowing up to two tables and eight
chairs to be placed in the city's right-of-way. The Public Works department would identify an area on the
sidewalk adjacent to a restaurant for the limited number of tables and chairs.
How will this work?
- Restaurants interested in participating will be charged $150 annual permit fee
for the cafe area.
- For convenience, your site plan can be produced by the Public Works department
at a cost of $250 and would serve as an approved plan for a period through
September 30, 2019.
