SUBJECT: RESOLUTION NO. 2019-30790 PASSED ON APRIL 10, 2019, URGING THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT A STUDY TO
EVALUATE THE NEED FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF A CROSSWALK IN THE
VICINITY OF HARDING AVENUE AND 87TH STREET TO IMPROVE SAFETY
FOR ELDERLY PEDESTRIANS FROM STELLA MARIS HOUSE AND OTHER
PEDESTRIANS IN THE AREA.
On April 10, 2019, the City Commission unanimously passed Resolution No. 2019-30790, urging
the Florida Department of Transportation to conduct a study to evaluate the need for
implementation of a crosswalk in the vicinity of Harding Avenue and 87th Street to improve safety
for elderly pedestrians from Stella Maris House and other pedestrians in the area, sponsored by
Commissioner Michael Gongora.
See attached letter received by the City Clerk on May 8, 2019 from Omar M. Meitin, P.E., District
Six Traffic Operations Engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation, in response to this
matter.

Our office will conduct a study as the resolution requests. We expect to finish our study

study as soon as we have them available.
