SUBJECT: Nefarious Act of Placing "Danger" Sign near Stormwater Pumping Station
Yesterday a Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department (WASD) owned "danger" sign
was located near one of Miami Beach's stormwater pumping stations on the Venetian Islands
(Photo 1). As we were able to confirm there are no sewerage spills in the area so we can only
surmise that the sign was placed there for some nefarious reason. City staff confirmed with
WASD as well as Miami-Dade County's Health Department and Division of Environmental
Resources Management that there were not any identified contaminated waters in the area.
When contacted, WASD staff was unaware that one of its signs was at this location and was
unable to identify how it arrived in Miami Beach. As such, they will be retrieving the sign.
