OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER •
NO. LTC# 384-2019 LETTER TO COMMISSION
TO: Mayor Dan Gelber and Members o the City ommission
FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager
DATE: July 8, 2019
SUBJECT: Miami Beach Police Department to host Mexico Law Enforcement Delegation
The Miami Beach Police Department, in concert with the International Association of
Chiefs of Police (IACP), will host a group of approximately ten (10) Mexican criminal
justice officials. The purpose of this visit is to showcase best practices in a multi-
disciplinary approach to domestic violence investigation. The group will include
representatives from victim advocacy and law enforcement. A handful of IACP
representatives are anticipated to accompany the Mexican delegation.
The dates for the site visit are August 8th through the 10th. All logistics for travel and
accommodations are the responsibility of IACP. However, the Police Department may
incur some ancillary costs, e.g. refreshments.
This is the fifth time in the last four and a half years that the Police Department has had
the opportunity to host an international delegation. It is an exceptional honor, and we
look forward to showcasing our skills in this area of investigations to this international
delegation.
A formal welcome is planned for August at 8th at approximately 8:15 AM in the Major
James W. Smith Community Room of the Miami Beach Police Department. The Mayor
and all members of the Commission are welcome to join us.
Please feel free to contact me in the future with any questions.
