Morales, City Manager k. _por DATE: July 11, 2019 SUBJECT: Animal Welfare Committee Motions The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide you with the motions made during the June 18, 2019 subcommittee meeting. Members in Attendance: Chair Linda Diamond, Sara De Los Reyes, Jane Gross, Jaedra Wedel, Helen Swartz, Mary Thingelstad, Sara Velasquez, Pedro Cofino Members Absent: Brooke Owens 1. MOTION: Asking that the City Commission consider legislation shifting responsibility in cases of animal deaths/harm when fumigating from property owner to fumigator. a. This proposal asks that the commission consider citing violations of this ordinance be cited under cruel confinement i. Amended under Chapter 10 of the City Code ii. Implement fine structure per dead animal (eg. $250/animal) Motion made by: Member Helen Swartz Seconded by: Member Sara de Los Reyes Motion passed 8-0 2. MOTION: Asking the City Commission implement a registration and notification process for properties considering fumigation. a. Notification for tenants b. MOTION: Asking the City Commission to consider a community pet washing station and report back options to the Animal Welfare Committee (to include revenue-sharing models).
