LTC 494-2019 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Flamingo Park Fitness Zone MIAMI BEACH
OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER
NO. LTC # 494-2019 LETTER TO COMMISSION
TO: Mayor Dan Gelber and Members of the Cit Commission
FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager
DATE: September 12, 2019
SUBJECT: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Flamingo Park Fitness Zone
You are cordially invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the unveiling of the new
Fitness Zone in Flamingo Park on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., located
at the 9th street fitness area.
The Flamingo Park Fitness Zone was made possible through a $120,000 donation from
the Trust for Public Land (TPL) through their Miami-Dade Fitness Zone Program, which
is funded by TD bank and focuses on parks in communities with health and fitness
needs.
The stations in the fitness zone were curated to provide a full body workout, allowing for
up to 25 people to workout at once. Out of the 9 fitness stations, 3 are wheelchair
accessible, allowing those with mobility impairments to exercise in an outdoor gym
tailored to their needs. The completion of this fitness zone also fulfills one of the slated
improvements to the park in the Flamingo Park Master Plan.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature refreshments and deli wraps, as well as
giveaways from the Parks and Recreation Department.
To attend the event, please access Flamingo Park from Michigan Avenue and 13th
street entrance.
Should you have additional questions, please contact Daphne Saba at (305) 673-7272.
