SUBJECT: DEADLINES TO PLACE AN ITEM(S) ON THE MARCH, AUGUST, AND/OR NOVEMBER 2020
BALLOTS.
Should the City of Miami Beach wish to conduct a special election along with the Countywide 2020
Presidential Preference Primary, Primary, and/or General Elections, the deadlines listed below must be
followed, in order to allow sufficient time for ballot preparation and to meet State-mandated deadlines to
mail absentee ballots to overseas voters.
Note that pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 100.151, "...the governing authority of a municipality shall not
call any special election until notice is given to the Supervisor of Elections and his(her)consent obtained as
to a date..."Once approval is obtained from the Supervisor of Elections, the resolution to call a special
election must be passed to meet the deadlines listed below.
