C: Mark Taxis, Assistant City Manager Eric Carpenter, Assistant City Manager Susanne Torriente, Assistant City Manager Saul Frances, Parking Director Monica Beltran, Assistant Parking Director Jose Gonzalez, Transportation Director Alfred Feola, Chairman Ray Breslin, Vice-Chair Members: Lelf Bertrand Marc Edelstein Cindy Esquivel Robert Lansburgh Linsey Lovell Stuart Reed Deborah Ruggiero Richard Streim TO: Mayor Dan Gelber and Members of the City Commission FROM: Transportation, Parking & Bicycle-Pedestrian Facilities Committee DATE: October 11, 2019 SUBJECT; Motions Members Present: AI Feola; Ray Breslin; Stuart Reed; Leif Bertrand; Robert Lansburgh; Richard Strelm; Cindy Esquivel; Linsey Lovell; and Marc Edelstein Members Absent: Deborah Ruggiero Dear Honorable Mayor and City Commission: The Transportation, Parking and Bicycle-Pedestrian Facilities Committee met on Monday October 7th, 2019, and passed the below motions: Electric Scooters The Transportation, Parking and Bicycle-Pedestrian Facilities Committee supports micro-mobility for the City of Miami Beach and strongly recommends the below limitations: • Limit to 3 companies • Should not be ridden on sidewalks • Use bike lanes where possible • Users should be 16 or older • Maximum speed of 15 mph • Scooters are not to be left on private property • Geo-fencing ability • Explore option for liability insurance for riders Better Bus Project Transit Alliance provided a presentation regarding the Better Bus Project, which included different concepts. The Transportation, Parking and Bicycle-Pedestrian Facilities Committee recommends that the Mayor and City Commission support the MDC-Ridership Concept.
