SUBJECT: Passport Program Achievement
The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to provide the Mayor and City Commission
with an update regarding a recent inspection of the City's passport application acceptance
program by the U.S. Department of State.
Passport services are provided at the City's Customer Service Center (CSC), which is a division
of the Finance Department and is located at 1755 Meridian Avenue. Approximately 2,400
residents annually visit the CSC for photo services, to process new applications, and renewals
for children under 16 years of age. Renewals for adults are required to be done at a U.S.
Department of State facility to avoid fraud.
I am pleased to report that the City of Miami Beach received a Certificate of Superior
Achievement and is "part of a small group of Passport Application Acceptance Facilities
throughout Florida to receive a perfect score on the annual Facility Oversight Compliance
Inspection." The inspection included one-on-one interviews, inspections of facility space, and
real time observations of CSC team members accepting and executing passport applications
from the public. During their visit, the assessors were particularly impressed with the newly
available estimated wait times for passport customers at the CSC, which they had not seen in
any other facility.
The attached letter also notes that "with nearly 300 facilities in the Miami Passport Agency's
Region having undergone the same rigorous assessment, it is no small feat to be recognized as
one of the best."
This achievement highlights my Administration's efforts to improve customer service to our
residents consistent with the goals and objectives in the City's Strategic Plan. If you have any

as well as real-time observations of Acceptance Agents accepting and executing passport
applications from the general public. With nearly 300 Facilities in the Miami Passport
Agency's Region having undergone the same rigorous assessment, it is no small feat to
be recognized as one of the best.
Through your Facility's hard work and vigilance, the U.S. Department of State is
able to accomplish our mission to issue secure travel documents to U.S. citizens while
providing the highest level of customer service, professionalism, and integrity.
