Morales, City Manager DATE: October 28, 2019 SUBJECT: SOUTH BEACH TROLLEY SERVIC GRANT AWARD The Transportation and Mobility team is excited to report a grant award of$1.25 million from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) public transit service development program for operation of the South Beach Trolley service (attachment). The grant program is designed to provide up to three years start-up funding for new public transit projects and can cover up to 50% of the capital, marketing, and net operating costs of the service. The City has secured a total of $3.68 million under this FDOT grant program over a five-year period since inception of trolley service in 2014. As per sections 341.051, 20.23(a)and 334.048(3), Florida Statutes(F.S.), Rule Chapter 14-73, Public Transportation, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), the District Modal Office conducted an evaluation of the submitted proposals and submitted a program of projects to Central Office for review and approval. Based on the established criteria in the statutes and available funding sources, City of Miami Beach has been awarded for the Service Development funds for the below project. South Beach Trolley Route$1,250,000.00 Funding is subject to the availability of an annual appropriation by the Florida Legislature(the spending authority).
