SUBJECT: Donating printers to Miami Dade Public Schools
The purpose of this LTC is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the
conclusion of the City's implementation of its managed print services initiative
and its donation of printers and supplies to Miami Dade Public Schools on Friday,
February 7, 2020.
On July 17, 2019, the City awarded Invitation to Negotiate ( ITN) No. 2017- 015-
JC, for Managed Print Services, which established an agreement with Canon
Solutions America to assist the City in gaining control over printing output,
reducing costs, reducing paper, and converting paper-based processes (e.g.,
routing approvals) into automated, digital processes that streamline workflow and
improve productivity.
The final transition to the new unified managed printing solution has allowed the
City's Information Technology (IT) Department to recover over 200 printers,
which will assist in lowering overall printing costs across the City. The IT
Department collected printers that were replaced by Canon devices along with
any old and unused toners. In an effort to give back to the community and
support technology initiatives in Miami Dade Public Schools, the City will be
donating the printers to Miami Dade Public Schools for use by underserved
schools throughout the district.
