SUBJECT: LEED for Cities and Communiti Grant Received
I am pleased to announce that the City of Miami Beach has received a LEED for Cities and
Communities grant. The City of Miami Beach will join a national cohort of 20 cities pursuing LEED
for Cities certification.
The grant program was created by USGBC with support from the Bank of America Charitable
Foundation. The grant provides recipients with technical support and educational resources to
assist cities through the LEED certification process, along with one annual USGBC membership
and access to the Arc performance platform. The LEED for Cities and Communities rating system
measures the performance of social, economic, and environmental conditions citywide across six
LEED credit categories.
The city will use the certification results to inform the development and enhancement of programs
and policies to mitigate the effects of climate change using the supporting data and benchmarking
metrics as important factors in our data-driven decision-making process.
We are excited to work towards our LEED for Cities and Communities certification.
