NORTH SEA SOUTH BEACH MUSIC FESTIVAL POSTPONEMENT
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide the Mayor and City Commission with an update on
the status of the negotiations with event organizers, Fundashon Bon lntenshon and Mojo Concerts, for
the proposed North Sea South Beach Music Festival (the "Event"). The proposed Event is a three (3) day
music festival that, if approved by the City Commission, would take place in March 2021, in Lummus Park
and Beach, and is before the City Commission for final approval of the Event and a potential sponsorship
contribution of City services for the Event.
At the direction of the City Commission, at its April 22, 2020 meeting, the Administration and the City
Attorney's Office met with the event organizers and discussed the terms and conditions of a potential
sponsorship agreement and timeline for successfully providing the City with the necessary documents
needed to ensure an engaging and safe event for March 2021. Unfortunately, after a few days of
discussions, the City was notified, on Friday, May 1, 2020, that the event organizers have decided to
postpone the Event.
As a direct result of the COVID-19 crisis, the event organizers believe they will not be able to execute the
successful international event they proposed to the City Commission. Accordingly, they would like to
revisit producing the Event in March 2022, and plan to utilize the information the City has shared with
them to enhance their March 2022 proposal.
