SUBJECT: MIAMI BEACH PROVID ES PLA ORMS FOR DRIVING BUSINESS ATT RACTION,
EXPANSION AND RETENTION
The purpose of this Letter to the Commission is to inform the Mayor and Commission of the City
Administration's efforts to support small businesses during these unique times of COVID-19. The Economic
Development Department and the department's Resource Center have partnered with two providers,
JobsEQ and Locallntel, to implement and provide resources promoting the city's economic advantages,
monitoring market trends and assisting local businesses and workforce.
JobsEQ, a Software as a Service (SaaS), will provide 24-hour online access to our labor market data.
Through the use of their service, site selectors and developers will be able to identify unique workforce
characteristics within Miami Beach. This information will help provide quality data to their clients by
describing current industry and demographic trends, along with targeted occupation and labor market
information. Additionally, JobsEq provides the City's Resource Center the ability to provide the local
workforce clear and concise job listings that match their specific skill sets.
Localintel's Small Communities Program will provide the city with an online presence to engage business,
promote opportunities and support local business growth. The initiative is aimed at making it easier for
prospective businesses to access Locallntel's advanced online economic development tools, embedded
into the City's website (https://www .miamibeachfl.gov/business/business-resources/). These tools will help
support small business attraction and retention efforts, making it easier to obtain information on local market
trends and competition, the workforce, customer demographics, available properties and more.
Economic Development and the Resource Center will continue to play a pivotal role in supporting and
growing our businesses and workforce. With major firms, startups, and real estate developers seeking new
places to take root, it is imperative that Miami Beach continue to create and establish a presence as leaders
in:
• Promoting and marketing the city's assets
• Providing business support services and resources
• Small business advocacy
