SUBJECT: City Awarded Emergency Food and Shelter Program Funds
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to announce that the City has been awarded $33,075
from the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) for its ongoing efforts to help our most
vulnerable residents.
As you may recall, the City applied for competitive funds through Local Board of the Emergency
Food and Shelter Program to provide rent, utility and food assistance for Miami Beach residents
at risk of homelessness and food insecurity. The City has been a recipient of these funds for
several years. This year, there was also a separate allocation added to the program from CARES
funding awarded to the Local Board.
W e were notified that the City was awarded the following funds:

Food Voucher Funds
Rent/Mortgage Assistance
Utilities

These funds will be added to the City's rent, mortgage and utility assistance efforts that been
underway since March 2020. EFSP funds must be expended by May 31, 2021. Please note that
the City's latest Community Development Block Grant - Coron avirus (CDBG-CV3) funds
allocation will be heard at the October 28, 2020 City Commission meeting.
