SUBJECT: Rockefeller Foundation Grant Award for Hospitality and Tourism Covid-19 Contact
Tracing Program
Miami Beach has been selected for a special grant from the Rockefeller Foundation to further the
goals of the National Covid-19 Testing Action Plan
(https://www.rockefellerfoundation.org/national-covid-19-testing-action-plan) for the Miami Beach
hospitality and tourism industry.
The goal is to help our hospitality and tourism businesses reopen and stay open through the
coming months by keeping employees safe and working. The grant is dedicated for Miami Beach
hotels, restaurants, and arts and culture venues. The contact tracing grant is six-months in
duration and two-fold, funding:
• $200,000 to the City of Miami Beach for a communications program designed specifically
to promote the dedicated Miami Beach contact tracing team, COVID-19 safety, and
employee testing.
• $255,030 to the Department of Health in Miami Dade County for a specialized Miami
Beach Hospitality Industry contact tracing team for fast and effective of contact tracing.
Staff is working with the Department of Health and industry associations and leaders to define the
program details, and the launch is expected in November. This opportunity comes to us through
the city's relationship with the Rockefeller Foundation, our participation in the Resilient Cities
Network (https://resilientcitiesnetwork.org), and through implementation of the Resilient305
strategy (https://resilient305.com/).
I am pleased to share this exciting news and continuing our commitment to reducing the spread
of COVID-19 and its devastating economic impact for Miami Beach businesses and employees.
Please contact me or Amy Knowles, Chief Resilience Officer, amyknowles@miamibeachfl_goy,
for any additional information about the program.
