SUBJECT: Use of Community Survey Data and Strategic Objectives in City Commission
Memoranda
I'm pleased to announce the update of the City Commission Agenda NOVUS system to
include survey data to provide the City Commission with data and adopted strategic
objectives for decision making with respect to Agenda items.
On December 11, 2019, the City Commission passed Resolution 2019-31098 requiring
the administration to use survey data in memoranda. To make this as efficient as possible
for staff, an online dashboard was developed and launched, along with multiple trainings
for staff. A new mandatory field has been added to NOVUS for survey data to be
included. Departments are required to fill out these fields for agenda-related memoranda,
except for procedural items such as referrals and discussions.

COMMUNITY SATISFACTION SURVEY
The dashboard is an interactive data platform for understanding key metrics driving
resident and business satisfaction in our city. The Community Satisfaction Survey was
conducted in the spring and summer of 2019. Developed to track, analyze and
communicate survey results, the dashboard represents the online version of the
Community Satisfaction Survey report produced by ETC Institute, a market research firm.
The dashboard includes ratings for major services, trends, satisfaction by demographics
and geographic analysis of questions for both resident and business surveys.

In addition, on July 17, 2020, the Strategic Plan through the Lens of Resilience was
adopted by the City Com m ission. A dro p-dow n box has been added to NOVUS for
departm ents to easily select the most relevant strategic objective that the item supports.
