OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER
LTC # 469-2020 LETTER TO COMMISSION
TO: Mayor Dan Gelber and Members of the City Commission
FROM: Raul J. Aguila, Interim City Manager
DATE: December 22, 2020
SUBJECT: SOUTH OF FIFTH IDENTIFICATION SIGNS
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the status
of the project which includes the installation of two (2) new neighborhood identification signs at the
entrance of the South of Fifth Neighborhood. The signs are located within the medians just south of
5th Street, at Alton Road and Washington Avenue.
The fabrication of the two masonry signs with travertine cladding and brushed stainless steel letters
began at an offsite location. The signs were later delivered on site, where the existing landscaping
was altered to accommodate the installation of the signs. Electrical power was connected for the
LED lighting.
The City worked diligently with the South of Fifth Neighborhood Association, SOFNA, to complete
this project to enhance the South of Fifth Neighborhood.
The construction of the signs has been completed, and they will be unveiled to the City on Tuesday,
December 22, 2020.
