SUBJECT: CITY HALL RENOVATION OF THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT
The purpose of this LTC is to update the Mayor and City Commission on the renovation of the
Building Department at City Hall.
The Building Department is in need of a reconfiguration that can improve the overall customer
experience. Additionally, the existing systems are dated and in need of upgrades.
The scope of the renovation will take place on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of City Hall. The size
of the area to be altered along these floors is approximately 15,368 square feet. The new design
allows for a safer environment for City Staff, while providing a more efficient, dynamic area for the
public.
The renovation will address obsolete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, replacing with
energy efficient fixtures and equipment reducing operating costs.
This will be a three (3) phase renovation. Phase one is inclusive of the 3rd floor inspector’s section,
phase two is broken into 2nd floor admin section and 1st floor check in counter, and phase three is
the remaining of the 2nd floor permit clerk section.
The Building Department will remain closed during construction. However, the day to day
operations will not be impacted during construction, as the staff will work remotely.
The project has a duration of 4 months, commencing on January 6, 2021, and anticipating a
completion date on May 11, 2021.
