HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34264RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34264 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO IDENTIFY VACANT PROPERTIES AND SURFACE PARKING LOTS IN PROXIMITY TO MAJOR PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS; AND FURTHER, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE TEMPORARY USE, LICENSE, OR LEASE AGREEMENTS WITH PROPERTY OWNERS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO PERMIT TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION STAGING ACTIVITIES AND TEMPORARY PARKING LOTS, IN ORDER TO MITIGATE THE IMPACTS OF SUCH PROJECTS ON TRAFFIC AND PARKING. WHEREAS, certain public construction projects, including the West Avenue Improvements and First Street Improvements, require the temporary removal or occupancy of on - street parking spaces, surface parking lots, and lanes of traffic, negatively impacting traffic and available parking for City residents; and WHEREAS, to mitigate the impacts of public construction on traffic and parking, vacant properties and temporary parking lots in the vicinity of such projects may be used for temporary constructing staging activities and temporary parking lots; and WHEREAS, such temporary uses may require amendments to the Land Development Regulations; and WHEREAS, any temporary use, license, or lease agreement with a property owner that exceeds the City Manager's purchasing authority in Sec. 2-366 of the City Code will require the subsequent approval of the City Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Manager to identify vacant properties and surface parking lots in proximity to major public construction projects; and further, authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute temporary use, license, or lease agreements with property owners, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to permit temporary construction staging activities and temporary parking lots, in order to mitigate the impacts of such projects on traffic and parking.
