HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34269RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34269 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO LIGHT CITY HALL IN ORANGE ON MAY 30, 2026, IN RECOGNITION OF AND TO HONOR WORLD MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS (MS) DAY. WHEREAS, multiple sclerosis ("MS") affects more than 2.8 million people worldwide, including many residents of the City of Miami Beach, and continued public education is essential to improving understanding of this chronic neurological condition; and WHEREAS, World MS Day is observed each year on May 30 to raise global awareness about multiple sclerosis, support individuals living with MS, and highlight the importance of research, treatment, and community support; and WHEREAS, World MS Day unites individuals, healthcare professionals, organizations, and communities across the globe in raising awareness, promoting access to treatment, and advocating for those living with MS; and WHEREAS, lighting City Hall in orange —the internationally recognized color of MS awareness —demonstrates the City's solidarity with residents, families, and caregivers affected by MS; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has a long-standing commitment to supporting public health and raising awareness about conditions that affect its residents and workforce; and WHEREAS, participating in World MS Day aligns with the City's values of compassion, inclusion, and community solidarity; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to participate in this worldwide observance by illuminating City Hall in orange on May 30, 2026. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Commission hereby directs the City Administration to light City Hall in orange on May 30, 2026, in recognition of and to honor World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day.
