HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34275RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34275 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO ISSUE A STOP -WORK ORDER TO TRANSCORE ITS, LLC, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CANCELING THE INSTALLATION OF THE TEN DIGITAL MESSAGE SIGNS THAT HAVE NOT YET BEEN INSTALLED; AND DIRECT THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTIONS TO IMPLEMENT THIS DIRECTION AND TO MINIMIZE ADDITIONAL COST EXPOSURE TO THE CITY. WHEREAS, the City has an existing agreement (the "ITS Contract") with TransCore ITS, LLC ("TransCore") for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's Intelligent Transportation System/Smart Parking System (ITS/SPS) project, which includes digital message signs (DMSs) as one of several deployed technologies; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desires to stop the commencement of any DMS installation work that has not yet commenced; and WHEREAS, canceling the installation of the ten (10) uninstalled DMSs is estimated to result in capital savings of approximately $877,308, excluding the cost of relocating cameras that would otherwise have been mounted on the DMS structures; and WHEREAS, eliminating these remaining DMS installations will also reduce visual blight in the City by avoiding the addition of large, permanent digital structures along public rights -of -way; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission find that issuing a stop -work order with respect to the uninstalled DMSs is in the public interest and consistent with prior direction regarding the future of digital message signage in Miami Beach. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Administration to issue a stop -work order to TransCore ITS, LLC, for the purpose of canceling the installation of the ten (10) digital message signs that have not yet been installed; and direct the City Administration to take all necessary actions to implement this direction and to minimize additional cost exposure to the City.
