HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34282RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34282 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO URGE LARGE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES WITHIN RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMIT (RPP) ZONE 26 TO ENCOURAGE THEIR RESIDENTS TO UTILIZE AVAILABLE ON -SITE PARKING RATHER THAN LIMITED ON -STREET PARKING WITHIN ZONE 26; AND, IN THE ALTERNATIVE, TO IDENTIFY OPTIONS FOR SUCH PROPERTIES TO ALLOW RPP ZONE 26 PERMIT HOLDERS WHO LIVE WITHIN THE ZONE TO PARK IN AVAILABLE ON -SITE FACILITIES. WHEREAS, RPP Zone 26 was created as a one-year pilot program pursuant to Resolution No. 2024-33222, adopted July 24, 2024; and WHEREAS, the pilot program was extended for an additional year through Resolution No. 2025-33990; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desire to protect the limited on -street parking supply within RPP Zone 26; and WHEREAS, several large residential properties located within RPP Zone 26 provide on -site parking for their residents; and WHEREAS, encouraging residents of such properties to make use of available on -site parking, rather than limited on -street parking, would improve the availability of on -street parking for residents who rely upon it; and WHEREAS, alternatively, exploring mechanisms that would permit RPP Zone 26 permit holders who reside within Zone 26 to utilize available on -site parking at these properties may further alleviate parking pressures within the zone; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to direct the City Administration to engage collaboratively with these properties and develop recommendations without removing or restricting any resident's eligibility for a Residential Parking Permit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby direct the City Administration to urge large residential properties within RPP Zone 26 to encourage their residents to park in available on -site parking rather than limited on -street parking within Zone 26, or, in the alternative, to identify feasible options for such properties to allow RPP Zone 26 permit holders who reside within the zone to park in available on -site facilities.
