HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-34283RESOLUTION NO. 2026-34283 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $200,000 FROM GRIFFIN CATALYST, AS PART OF THE FIFA LEGACY PROJECT, TO PARTIALLY FUND THE CITY'S EXISTING $1.5 MILLION ARTIFICIAL TURF REPLACEMENT PROJECT AT NORMANDY ISLE PARK AND POOL; PROVIDING THAT THE PROJECT IS ALREADY FULLY FUNDED BY AN APPROVED AMENDMENT TO THE FY 2026 CAPITAL BUDGET; AND AUTHORIZING THE DISPLAY OF CITY -APPROVED DONOR BRANDING ON THE FIELD. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach ("City") is undertaking a $1.5 million artificial turf replacement project at Normandy Isle Park and Pool, located at 7030 Trouville Esplanade, Miami Beach, Florida, which is fully funded by an approved amendment to the FY 2026 Capital Budget; and WHEREAS, the project includes the installation of new artificial turf at the athletic field at Normandy Isle Park and Pool, improving safety, usability, and long-term durability of the recreational facility; and WHEREAS, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Miami Host Committee has advised, that Griffin Catalyst, a FIFA Partner, participates in the FIFA Legacy Project, an initiative designed to create long-term community benefits in host cities by supporting improvements to local recreational and play spaces, including athletic field enhancements, and that the Normandy Isle Park and Pool project aligns with the Legacy Project's goals and desired outcomes; and WHEREAS, Griffin Catalyst, as part of the FIFA Legacy Project, has offered to donate $200,000 to partially fund the City's existing artificial turf project; and WHEREAS, if the City accepts the donation, the City would be required to host an event during the FIFA World Cup games to announce the collaboration and display related signage, and that upon completion of the project, donor branding —most likely the Griffin Catalyst logo —must be displayed on or adjacent to the field, subject to City approval; and WHEREAS, the Administration recommends acceptance of the donation, which will offset a portion of the total project cost without altering the project schedule or adding to the approved FY 2026 capital funding; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to accept the donation and authorize City -approved donor branding in connection with the project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby accept a donation in the amount of $200,000 from Griffin Catalyst, as part of the FIFA Legacy Project, to partially fund the City's existing $1.5 million artificial turf replacement project at Normandy Isle Park and Pool; acknowledge that the project is already fully funded by an approved amendment to the FY 2026 Capital Budget; and authorize the display of City -approved donor branding on the field.
