WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach ("City") provides official uniforms to its
Parking Enforcement Specialists to ensure clarity of authority, consistency of appearance,
professionalism, and public trust; and
WHEREAS, Section 316.640, Florida Statutes, identifies "Parking Enforcement
Specialists" as the appropriate job title for employees performing parking enforcement
duties, reaffirming the importance of accurate and statutorily compliant uniform

employees as "Parking Enforcement Specialists," as does Chapter 106 (and elsewhere)

WHEREAS, the City recently provided official uniforms to its Parking Enforcement
Specialists, which uniforms inaccurately label such employees as "Parking Specialists";

and
WHEREAS, the continued use of these incorrect uniforms may also undermine the
perceived authority of Parking Enforcement Specialists when interacting with the public

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission find it necessary and appropriate to
immediately discontinue the use of such incorrect uniforms and recall them from
circulation until proper and approved uniforms are issued; and

implementation of corrected uniforms.
