Gonzalez, City Manager C DATE: January 8, 2009 SUBJECT: Carl Fisher Post Office 1 Attached, please find correspondence from Mr. Phil Cascio, Miami Beach Postmaster, providing information regarding the Post Office located at 1661 West Avenue. The Administration contacted Mr. Cascio following your October 28 and December 15, 2008 inquiries regarding constituent concerns that the Postal Service intends to close the West Avenue location. Mr. Cascio informed the Administration that, to his knowledge, there were no plans forthe closure of that location. Furthermore, on December 19, 2008, Postmaster Cascio provided the attached letter, indicating that the current lease expires on February 14, 2011, and that there remains one 5-yearoption. Furthermore, he states that the Postal Service has no plans to vacate the location prior to the end of the lease and option period. Hopefully this information will relieve the concern expressed by the community regarding the West Avenue Post Office. As you know, the Cart Fisher Finance Unit is a leased facility. I have verified that the current lease expires on February 14, 2011. The U.S. Postal Service has one 5-year option remaining. At this time, we have no plans to vacate this Post Office prior to the end of the lease and option.
