~~an Jose Pa~°ron, Esq.
Ivan J. Parron, Esq. currently serves as the managing attorney and principal of
Parron & Associates, PL, a boutique entertainment, media, sports and technology
law firm based out of Miami Beach, Florida. The law firm represents and/or deals
within a wide range of entertainment and media clients and companies including
film and television production companies, studios and networks (Fox Sports,
Televisa, Venevision Productions, DirecTV, TV Azteca, Paramount, Universal
Pictures, Bunim/Murray, CineSon Entertainment, ABC, CBS , NBC Universal,
HDNet, Telemundo, Univision, Sony Pictures Television International), digital
media distribution companies (Apple, NetFlix, Verizon, AT&T), directors, actors,
artists, record labels (SonyBMG, Universal Music Group, Universal Music Latino,
Machete Music, EMI, Warner Music Group), magazine publications, merchandising companies and tour
production companies. Mr. Parron has over 15 years of executive and legal experience in the digital media,
television, music and entertainment space with strong emphasis on business strategy/development and venture
management/capitalization, serving as a CEO, board member and an in-house attorney.
Mr. Parron previously served as in-house attorney at Universal Music Group, based out of the Miami Beach
regional office which oversees the US Latin market, Spain and Portugal. During his tenure, Mr. Parron
represented the company in negotiations with some of the top selling and world renown music artists
including Juanes, Akon, Enrique Iglesias, Jim Jones, Paris Hilton, Nelly Furtado, Daddy Yankee, Don Omar
and Wisin & Yandel. He also oversaw business and legal affairs for several of the company's joint ventures,
was instrumental in the company's efforts in obtaining digital and mobile distribution rights from its artists,
and assisted in developing an "American Idol"- style venture.
During the "DotCom Boom" in the late 1990's, Mr. Parron served as founder and CEO of Ritmoteca.com,
Inc., the world's first legal source for downloadable Latin music via the Internet and mobile networks. The
company was an early predecessor to the now highly successful Apple iTunes business model. As CEO, he
oversaw the vision and implementation of the company's business plan, capitalization and forging of strategic
partnerships. Mr. Parron helped pioneer the deal structure for digital distribution of music, signing digital
distribution agreements with over 60 top independent record labels and aggregating exclusive digital rights to
over 600,000 music tracks and videos including exclusive digital distribution rights to catalogs of artists like
Marc Anthony ,Carlos Vives ,Tito Puente and Celia Cruz. His vision and business savvy also led his company
to become the first Latin music venture to sign digital music distribution deals with the major record labels
including Sony, BMG, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group, securing his position as a dealmaker.
Under his leadership, Ritmoteca forged strategic alliances with companies including Microsoft, AOL, Real
Networks, Nokia, Motorola, MusicNet and Napster. Mr. Parron built the company up to 200 employees with
satellite offices in Europe backed by private and institutional investors including Bain Capital in Boston.
Prior to Ritmoteca, Mr. Parron served as founder and president of Internet Marketing Consultants, one of the
first Internet and new media consulting firms in Florida in 1994. He consulted for international media brands
and companies including MTV, Nickelodeon and Discovery Channel.
Mr. Parron has been involved in music and entertainment practically his entire life, playing alto saxophone
since the age of six, working as a DJ at the age of 14 and working in practically every department of Miami
FM radio throughout his college career. He is an appointed member of the Miami-Dade County Film and
Entertainment Advisory Board and a member of both the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences
and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He is an active member in his community and donates
his time and efforts to charities including La Liga Contra El Cancer, Amigos For Kids and The Susan G.
Koman Foundation. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida and is currently in the process of
being admitted to practice in Washington D.C. where he plans to open a second office this year.
