Dena Stewart is a visionary artist. She paints colorful canvases to express her
life experiences, dreams and beliefs.

Dena's heavily-detailed, vividly colored "Christmas Tree In The City" water color painting was
selected for the 1982, `83, `84 and `89 UNICEF Greeting Card Collection, selling more than 3
million cards world-wide and raising more than $300,000 for UNICEF. In 1989, Dena served as an
honorary goodwill ambassador for UNICEF.
Ms. Stewart's work has been featured in Country Living Magazine; Salon (a Tokyo, Japan
magazine); A Guide To the Arts (South Florida); The Clarion: America's Folk Art Magazine, (a
publication of the Museum of American Folk Art, New York City); Modern Maturity Magazine
(AARP publication); The Washington Post; The New York Daily News; The Miami Herald; and in
a variety of syndicated newspaper articles. She has been interviewed on many local and national
news and television shows including "HARD COPY" and in a documentary for lARD German
Television.
Dena started painting 30 years ago, after a career as a teacher and business professional. Although
she is not formally trained as a painter, her education and psychology background combined with
her artistic talents have been a compelling force in creating and implementing the unique art
projects produced by Center for Folk and Community Art (CFCA), a non profit organization she co-
founded with Stewart Stewart, her partner of 35 years. CFCA's mission is to use visual art as a tool
of intervention, prevention and education to impact community issues and improve the human
condition. Dena uses her original, nationally recognized model program Telling Stories Through
Visuals to teach people how to express their feelings and experiences using visual art.
Dena and Stewart, together, are frequent guest speakers before professional and student bodies.
They have appeared at the New World School of the Arts; Miami-Dade County Public Schools; the
Miami International Press Club; Florida International University; Blui~ton College (Ohio), and at
local and national conferences. Dena is a State of Florida certified teacher. She is a former member
of the Art in Public Places Committee for the City of Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Fine Arts
Board. Dena is an honored recipient of the 2001 "Woman Worth Knowing" award bestowed
upon her by the Miami Beach Commission on the Status of Women. Her bio is included in the
23rd Edition of Who's Who in the World (2006), the 25th Edition of Who's Who of American
Women, (2006-2007 and 2008-2009), and the 1989 Edition of Who's Who in the South and
Southwest. She received the Key to the City of Miami Beach in 2006.
