Bower and City Commissioners City of Miami Beach 1700 Convention Center Drive Miami Beach, FL 33139 Dear Mayor Bower and City Commissioners, With this letter I respectfully request your consideration for my appointment to the Art in Public Places Committee of the City of Miami Beach. Enclosed, please find my completed application form and resume for your review. I have been practicing architecture for twenty-five years and during that time have always maintained an interest in art. Seventeen years ago I set up my own office in Miami Beach and have had the great fortune to work on many challenging and rewarding projects, including the renovation and restoration of the Tides Hotel on Ocean Drive, the restoration of the Molinar and Splendor buildings on Collins Avenue, and various other interior and exterior renovation / restoration projects on buildings such as the National Hotel, the Palms Hotel, the Leslie Hotel, the Cavalier Hotel, and the Netherland Building. You may notice from my resume that I have already served on the AIPP, from 2001 to 2007. Because of my background and experience in architecture, and my life -long interest in and appreciation of art, I have a proven track record of being able to contribute to the Committee a practical perspective while we deliberate on the various merits of a particular art project. I also am able to communicate clearly and respectfully with the other Committee members and the artists who present their work to us. I would very much welcome the opportunity to serve on the Art in Public Places Committee once again, and I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my nomination for this appointment.
