The filming of this documentary was born from my desire to incorporate my anthropological training
with my interest in the arts and focused on Latin American artists living and working in their homeland
and how the art they produce can be seen as a visual ethnography

I began as Director of Latin American and Caribbean art at Pan American Art Gallery in Dallas, TX and
then moved to Miami to open our Florida gallery as Director in 2006
Responsibilities include:
Exhibitions:
Selection of artists for exhibitions, preparation of exhibitions including press releases, invitations and
Catalogues, consignment and shipping coordination of works, coordination of installation, promotion,
press contacts, and collector relations.
Art Fairs:
all duties as listed above for national and international art fairs
Auctions:
Correspondence with all major auction houses and placement of works from collection at auction as
well as acquisition of secondary market pieces from auction.
Community Outreach and Lectures:
Coordination and preparation of lectures both at gallery and at cultural institutions either presented by
myself or selection of panelists for discussions
Responsible for donation and loan of artists work to various charity donations nationally
Museum contacts:
Responsible for coordination with museum's and other cultural institutions for the purpose of loan of
works from our collection, sales to institutions, and other forms of collaboration.

Dear Mayor Bower and City Commissioners,
With this letter I respectfully request appointment to the Art in Public Places Committee of the City of
Miami Beach. Enclosed please find an Application Form and resume for your review. •
As can be seen by my resume, I have ample experience in the world of the arts and in uniting
communities with artists which I believe would make me an asset to the City with Arts in Public Places.
My interest in the arts was born while I was living and working in Guatemala and made my first trips to
other parts of Latin America. Looking at the arts with an anthropological eye, I am interested in the
visual language of art and how it can tell a symbolic story of the artists culture, both for those artists
living and working in their country of origin as well as those in diasporas.
Since joining Pan American Art Projects I have been able to create several exhibitions with further this
aim by bringing together artists from different origins of the Americas who address similar issues in their
own visual language, thus Pan American.
In addition to producing exhibitions at the gallery every 4 -6 weeks, we have begun an artist in residency
program at the adjacent apartment on the gallery premises and are preparing to open a library of the
galleries collection of rare and out of print books and catalogues to university students.
We have collaborated with several international museums and cultural centers in lending artwork from
our artists to exhibitions as well as sponsoring exhibitions.
We have also sponsored artist in residency opportunities for our artists as well as funded books on their
work. I have also lectured and written articles since beginning my career in the arts.
I hope that you will consider favorably my application and my interest in serving the arts community and
the city of Miami Beach by becoming a member of the Art in Public Places Committee. I can be reached
