I have spent the past decade cultivating an entrepreneurial life and transforming into a creative life artist. I have been lucky enough to work with some of the number one movers and shakers in the film, art, and apparel industries. I have lived in interesting locations and traveled around the world meeting a cast of characters! I easily balance my life with my enjoyment of hard work, creative/business skill, and most importantly my love of offering service to others. There is never a task to small or large in my day and my transition between the two is seamless. Over four years, I have been educating myself on the topics of creative tourism and creative play with children. For the past two years, IÈve committed myself to doing hands-on research with local families here in Miami Beach. During this time, I also traveled to European cities on several occasions to see creative tourism and play in action. I crisscrossed the US to investigate authentic play and art in rural and metropolitan cities. I visited the luxurious 5 start resorts all the way down to the simplest of organic resort communities. I witnessed first hand examples of what progressive cities were providing families and tourists in terms of park and recreational activities. Completing my business degree, I wrote my final paper on the changes underway in innovative communities regarding creative play and the impact of creative tourism on their visitors and the vacation experience. Asking questions to parents and their children brought much clarity to my vision. Creative play, creative tourism, local families, vacationing families, it all goes hand-in-hand when we are sharing our sacred space with such a diverse spectrum of adults and children! Arriving in South Beach in 2001, I have seen our beach change tremendously over the past decade. This is my home. As a member of our community, these are OUR local children and the children of visitors that arrive here to enjoy paradise! LetÈs make the lives of the adults and children, local and visiting: genuinely authentic, culturally integrative, and simply more enjoyable! At 19 years old, I left my mid-western college with a 4.0 and co-founded a clothing business here in South Beach. Within four months my partner and I were featured in Ocean DriveÈs Beach Patrol. Our bikini design graced the cover of the magazine the month prior! Today, the company is currently branded worldwide and extremely successful. Three years were spent nursing the company to life in every way possible right here on Miami Beach. During that time, there were appearances in Ocean Drive, Lucky Magazine, Cosmo, WWD, Sports Illustrated, FHM, and other publications. Ready to explore, I moved on to another start-up idea brought to me by an eager corporate dropout. He had moved back to his beloved hometown, from London to develop a Miami Beach inspired spa & home furnishings company. We co-created this start-up out of a spare bedroom in the heart of our community. Within 4 short months, we took the concept to market and it was a success. From a paper napkin idea to a full-scale warehouse operation in the (at that time) up and coming Wynwood district. The company continued to be profitable with the owner running it for 3 years. Repositioning myself, I took an instant interest in film and print production. I moved to Malibu and was bi-coastal with production houses in LA and Miami. Simply needing a break, I thrived in this world of Çget things done, quickly and to the point, grab coffee, take us to the airport, now lead the show.È Building budgeted commercials and shoots in a 4-5 day time frame was an exotic and exciting challenge. It gave me more reassurance that I can follow through with any given task presented, in the box or outside, while dealing with any individualÈs personal or professional personality and needs. I confidently knew, Åif they desired elephants and purple rain¼let me make a call à I can make it happen!È In the blink of an eye, I found myself radically having to change my lifestyle and working location. My family went through Katrina, which brought life an interesting twist. I was able to take all I had learned in business building and production and became a full-time on the ground floor contactor and skilled carpenter. What fun that was! When the re-building task completed, I was then recruited to an established, multi-million dollar skincare company in Santa Barbara, California. My duties included, but were not limited to, flying around the US and Canada training their distribution outlets on the products. I was a public speaker conducting symposium trainings in front of audiences ranging from 500 à 3500 attendees. I was given full ability to book my own travel and again, Çjust get the job done on time and as scheduled, period.È This mission was accomplished over a 3 years period. When the market changes hit the California based company, I was released. I assembled together all of my learned skills and mapped out what I felt was my true passion: helping other successful, busy entrepreneurs with their lives. I jumped right into this new multi-dimensional, never-know-what-to-expect type role. I organized a multitude of things, helping with daily life, assisting with and playing with their children, and cleaning toilets! Personally, I love the satisfaction that comes from this type of work. With the blessing of the families and children I cared for, I inquired into a yearlong return to the company I first co- created at 19 years old. The creative director gave me the green light. I returned on the tenth anniversary and was thrilled to jump feet first into running one of their multi- million dollar retail stores. I spent a year managing their Naples, Florida and MarthaÈs Vineyard locations. It was impressive and inspiring to see how this entity had grown from a little idea to what it is today. Working in the stores brought the whole business full-circle in my mind and it refined my management and social skills to an even higher level. I am grateful I was given the opportunity to return, under the radar! University of Southern Mississippi BachelorÈs degree in Business Management
