Andrew Vazquez Disposal Costs (87-8)
FROM. Inte Auditipr
On September 4, 1 87 the City of Miami Beach filed a petition to pass through
an increase in the cost of sewage disposal to the neighboring municipalities
of Surfside, North Bay Village, Bal Harbour and Bay Harbor Islands as
provided for in Section 32-64(b) of the Metropolitan Code.
Staff's review of the petition indicates that it .seeks to pass through only
the proposed October 1, 1987 increase in the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer
Authority Department's wholesale sewage disposal rate which is pending before
the County Commission.
If that increase is approved by the Commission prior to the Water and Sewer
Board's September 17, 1987 meeting, Staff recommends that the Board grant the
City's petition and -issue an order authorizing Miami Beach to bill the
neighboring municipalities for sewage disposal service at a rate of $0.6124
per 1,000 gallons effective October 1, 1987, calculated as follows:
Present Miami Beach
Bulk Sewer Rate $0.5514 per 1,000 -gallons

New Rate $0.5278
Present Rate 0_ 4668
Increase 0.0610 per 1,000 gallons
