20161205 NOTICE OF SPECIAL COMMISSION CITY OF MIAMI BEACH NOTICE OF SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION MEETING DISCUSS THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD RECOMMENDATION THAT HISTORIC DESIGNATION REPORTS BE PREPARED FOR THE NORTH SHORE LOCAL HISTORIC DISTRICT AND THE NORMANDY ISLES LOCAL HISTORIC DISTRICT DECEMBER 5, 2016 Notice is hereby given that the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, will hold a Special City Commission Meeting on December 5, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., to discuss the Historic Preservation Board recommendation that Historic Designation Reports be prepared in accordance with the following: North Shore Local Historic District: The boundaries for designation shall be consistent with the area identified in the draft North Beach Master Plan. The design guidelines specific to the Local Historic District shall be developed as part of the future historic designation report, to allow for more flexibility and encourage sustainable and resilient development. Normandy Isles Local Historic District: The boundaries for designation shall be consistent with the area identified in the draft North Beach Master Plan. Pursuant to Section 118-591 of the City Code, the Mayor and City Commission may, by a five sevenths vote, deny or modify the proposed request for designation, as well as establish specific timeframes for the completion of the evaluation and recommendation and/or designation report. Within this 60 day period the City Commission may also, by a five-sevenths vote, deny or modify the proposed designation boundaries. Interested parties are invited to appear at this Special City Commission Meeting, or be represented by an agent, or to express their views in writing addressed to the City Commission, c/o the Office of the City Clerk, 1700 Convention Center Drive, 1st Floor, City Hall, Miami Beach, Florida 33139. A copy of the item is available for public inspection during normal business hours in the Office of the City Clerk, 1700 Convention Center Drive, 1st Floor, City Hall, Miami Beach, Florida 33139. This Special City Commission Meeting, or any item herein, may be continued, and under such circumstances, additional legal notice need not be provided. One or more City board/committee members, including but not limited to members of the Historic Preservation Board and the Planning Board, may attend and participate in discussions. Pursuant to Section 286.0105, Fla. Stat., the City hereby advises the public that if a person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at this Special City Commission Meeting, such person must ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. This notice does not constitute consent by the Cit y for the introduction or admission of otherwise inadmissible or irrelevant evidence, nor does it authorize challenges or appeals not otherwise allowed by law.
