Monica Mlnagorri Biography
Monica Minagorri was born and raised in Miami Florida and has been a resident of Miami Beach for the
past five years. She has an extensive background in Musical Theatre, studying Dance, Music and Theatre
since a young age. Monica went on to be a finalist on the American Idol on FOX and All American Girl on
ABC. She has also been recognized for her talents in multiple national competitions throughout the
years.
Monica also has done a lot of nonprofit work for organizations such as the American Diabetes
Association, American Cancer Society and has over 100 hours in community service throughout Miami
Florida. She has also gone on a few Medical Missions in Guatemala where her and her family helped
raised money and assist in opening a medical clinic, school and living facility for under privilege children.
Monica is very active in the community of Miami Beach, previously being a member of The Fine Arts
Board of Miami Beach.
Monica owns a small business in Miami Beach Fl, called Mina Miami Beach. This is a small boutique that
encourages young up and coming designers in the area to display their clothing and jewelry line. She has
inspired many young men and woman in the community to further explore their talents in arts and
fashion.
Monica also works in Real Estate, currently working with 1100 West Avenue LLC and previously working
in Mexico for three years selling residences for The Related Group and Fortune International Sales.
She fluently speaks English and Spanish.

SUBJECT : Cultural Arts Council Vacancies
Three (3) members of the Cultural Arts Council (CAC) are up for reappointment, their terms having
expired on 12/31/2012: Beatrice Hornstein, Daniel Novela, and Marjorie O'Neill-Butler. At its regular
meeting on January 3, 2013, the CAC voted unanimously to recommend that these three members
be reappointed.
One seat has remained vacant since 12/31/11. The CAC respectfully requests that the Mayor and
Commission fill this seat as soon as possible . Adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Ordinance
establishing the CAC, a Nominating Committee was convened on January 17, 2013 to review and
screen interested candidates for this position. The City Clerk's Office provided the Nominating
Committee with nine (9) applications for the vacant seat, including two (2) applicants who were
vetted and recommended by the CAC for this seat last year, Oliver Oberhauser and Elizabeth Pines .
All of the applicants were invited via e-mail to attend the Nominating Committee meeting, but only
one attended , Ms. Monica Minagorri. ·
Pursuant to Section 2-55(d) of Ordinance No . 97~3075, as amended, establishing the Miami Beach
Cultural Arts Council (CAC), "vacancies on the Council shall be filled by the Mayor and City
Commission. In filling any vacancy, the Mayor and City Commission may select a replacement
Council member from a list of three (3) candidates, which shall be submitted by the remaining
members of the Council." Further, "the individual members of the City Commission may supplement
the Council 's suggested list with additional names of candidates or, if neither the candidates on the
Council's suggested list nor the additional names submitted by the individual members of the City
Commission are approved, the Council shall submit an entirely different list" for consideration .
The Nominating Committee unanimously agreed to submit Monica Minagorri , Oliver Oberhauser and
Elizabeth Pines for consideration by the Mayor and Commission for the vacant CAC seat. The
Committee's recommendation was approved by the CAC at its regular meeting on January 31, 2013 .
