Hunter Academic Society
Sociefy Director (2008-2009), Mentorship Program Director (2006-2008), and Clinical Sk//s Trainer
(2006-2Ne)
Academic Societies provide clinicalskills training to first and second year medical students, as well as an
organized mentoring system for the students. As a trainer, I aided in teaching the underclassmen all
aspects of history and physical exans. As a mentorship coordinator, I paired underclassmen with
upperclassmen. The upperclassmen are a resource for general questions, advice, books, and notes.
Formal events, such as meetings on clinical note writing, clinical experiences, discussion of research
opportunities, and social gatherings were also arranged. A database of notes and files for the Surgery
clerkship, lnternal Medicine clerkship, and USMLE exams was compiled in my two years of service at this
position. My fourth year, I was appointed Director of the Hunter Society. As clirector I oversaw clinical
skills training, student clinic, community service events, and mentoring activities for a group of 60 nredical
students throughout the year.
