Vice Mayor Goodman expressed thought that representatives of the involved parties should be invited to attend the meeting when City Atty's. report is submitted. 1/3/73 1/3/73 SUITS AGAINST THE CITY 2324 Meeting Date RES. 73-13882 adopted, authorizing $10,000 settlement in litigation brought by seven personnel of 1 D Div. (Police Dept.), re: their suit for recognition as police officers. 1/17/73 City Atty. advised the Florida Supreme Court upheld the single family zoning of that property situated at the northwest corner of 42nd Street and Pine Tree Drive (owned by Jefferson National Bank) and has forbidden the use thereof for a parking lot for the bank. City Atty. advised of the decision from the Florida Supreme Court that all legal barriers to proceeding with the condemnation of the remaining property in the Open Space Project 2/21/73 SUITS AGAINST THE CITY 233 Meeting Date (east side of Collins Ave. north of 81st St) had been removed and that the City can condemn without any obstacle. 2/21/73 Appeal from ruling of Judge Crawford re: that City's Code pertaining to wearing and display of a swastika. 3/7/73 City Atty. directed to take immediate appeal from Judge Crawford's ruling, through the highest court in the land. 3/7/73 Vice Mayor Goodman asked City Atty. to research Code as to legislation to prevent desecration of the American flag, and to advise Council if amendment is needed to cover. 3/7/73
