Mayor Rosen advised that he had contacted
the Hotel Union and the Chamber of Commerce
regarding this problem. 12/11/74
NBC TELEVISION NEWS BROADCAST indicating that 1/8/75
M.B. was without tourists, etc., during recent
holidays.
Mayor Rosen asked that something be done to
correct this impression which was given to
nationwide audiences.
City Atty. requested to obtain a transcript
of the broadcast in question and to report
back with an appropriate recommendation as
to action to be taken.

Consideration of Financing Courtesy Campaign.
Requested by Mayor Harold Rosen. Deferred at
request of Mayor Rosen, who advised that he
would request the T.D.A. to fund this Campaign. 2/5/75
Mayor's Workshop Meeting scheduled 4/9/75 at 4/2/75
3:00 p.m., with representatives of various
businesses and organizations which are affected
by tourist and convention industry, to discuss:
various facets of the industry and what the City
can do to be competitive; particularly to con-
sider the question of City waiving rental fee
for Conv. Hall facilities for those organizations
whose by-laws prohibit them from paying for their
convention facilities; providing a means for

businesses which benefit from these conven-
tions to fund the actual cost of the Hall for
those particular conventions. Councilman Dr.
Haber requested report and recommendation
from Convention Hall Mgr. Councilman Dr.

Councilman Sahl reported that he had been 8/6/75
receiving complaints from the City's merchants
concerning transportation to Miami being ar-
ranged for South American tourists to do their
shopping, Mayor Rosen advised that enforcement
has been stepped up and the matter is being
policed.
