Councilman Meyerson announced that the Mayor 7/6/77
had designated him to Chair a workshop meeting,
scheduled to be held on Friday, July 8, 1977,
at 10:00 a.m., to attempt to solve some of the
problems recently encountered by the Taxicab
Industry and Latin American Tour Operators, and
he invited all members of the Council to attend,

funds for refurbishing their establishments, and
was advised by Mr. Grenald of the unsuccessful
efforts that had been made in doing so with the
banking community due to fact that tourism is not
recognized as an industry; furthermore; that ef-
forts were being made in Tallahassee to seek the

WORKSHOP - LATIN TOUR OPERATORS 7/18/77
Councilman Meyerson reported on the recent 7/20/77
meetings of the Taxicab Industry and Latin Tour
Operators and advised that accord had been
reached and that the City Atty. was in the pro-
cess of preparing an appropriate ordinance for
presentation to Council. (See Latin Tour

Res. #77-15393 adopted, requesting Constitutional 7/20/77
Revision Committee to amend the State Constitu-
tion by authorizing Tourism as being an industry
for which revenue bonds may be issued. Proposed
by Councilman Spaet.

Members of M.B. Chamber of Commerce appeared 9/7/77
and extended invitations to the Council to
attend a 3 -day seminar in Boca Raton, Sept.
23-25, 1977, on tourism, problems and solu-
tions, and upgrading the City.
