Discussion of adoption of resolution regarding 6/7/78
funding of additional Sanitation personnel and
Street Patrols (requested by Commissioner Wikler)
(deferred from 5/17/78). Commissioner Dr. Wikler
reintroduced proposed resolution to direct Admini-
stration to divert 1--% of the unexpended 1977-78
budgets of all departments, except for Police and
Sanitatio 1, for purpose of funding employment of
additional personnel for street cleaning and
private guards to patrol the streets. City Mgr.
rendered oral report on what steps have been
taken by Administration in reorganizing shifts
of police officers and obtaining of additional
personnel for street sweeping, etc. Subsequently,
motion for adoption of proposed resolution failed

of passage. Commissioner Weisburd requested
that City Mgr. consider stationing two uniformed
police officers, wit', dogs, on the east and west
