Rent Control_November 1973RENT CONTROL 19 Meeting Date motion for immediate rent freeze as of this date, failed for lack of a second. Council- man Sahl suggested an attorney, versed in rent control legislation be employed to assist City Atty. in preparation of final rent control legislation. Councilman Weinstein re- quested City Manager make every effort to employ a competent Rent Director quickly. 11/7/73 Submitted Ord. proposed by majority of Rent Control Committee; Ord. proposed by Minority of Rent Control Committee; Council- man Wikler's Ord; City Atty's Ord; Council- man Sahl's Ord; Memo 4301 re: City Mgr's recommendations. At conclusion of lengthy RENT CONTROL 2d Meeting Date discussion, Council voted; a) any proposed ordinance not be adopted on emergency basis, b) to have first reading of rent control ordinance at this meeting, second reading and public hearing 12/19/73. 11/21/73 City Atty's. recommended Ordinance passed on first reading, establishing 10/1/73 as date for rent freeze, ord. to go into effect 1/1/74, for 1 yr., or unless sooner repealed. 11/21/73 City Mgr. authorized to retain Mr. Stanley A.
