I am applying for the Art in Public Places Committee to serve the City of Miami Beach and keep
it beautiful. I know that the choices made today can last for years or even decades. I feel it is
very important to support artists and to live and play with art around us. The beauty of the
environment has major effect on how people feel in that space – both tourists and locals.
My qualifications include my education and vocation in the arts field. I have been an
architectural photographer, film / photo industry location scout and owned a Miami Beach
based film / photography location service for almost 30 years. I have worked with the top
production designers and architects over the years in various projects. I have an aesthetic to
envision what art is great art and what art fits in the right setting. I know the City very well as I
am out and around the city all the time shooting and working on productions. I am known to
have a great eye and artistic sense.
Please visit my website http://www.locationresources.com/index.asp
I am also applying for the Committee on the Homeless because I see and interact with the
homeless on a daily basis by my office which is located on Lincoln Rd between Washington Ave.
and Collins Ave. I often work late into the evening when the problem is the most visible and
intense. It pulls at my heartstrings and want to try to be part of the solution to help these
people get out of the situation that they are in. It is also not good for tourism for people to
have to see the unfortunate people living on the street.
I also feel that I am qualified to sit on the Housing Authority Board. I sat for two years on the
Community Development Advisory Committee where I learn a much about the issues. In my
position on the Hispanic Affairs Committee, housing has been an issue of much discussion in
the board and with housing staff, especially in regards to the elderly on fixed incomes where
Miami Beach has been their home for many decades. We have been informed and have
discussed the challenges of local housing availability and affordability.
