Davidson Bio Daniel Davidson is a successful entrepreneur that has founded, funded and operated companies in the fields of biotechnology, education, computer technology, and hospitality. In 2010 Davidson founded Engagement Media Technologies (formerly OneNews) the first global repository of consumer generated news content established to monetize mobile device generated content through distribution to news organizations world wide. The company holds two USPTO patents written by Davidson. In 1995 Mr. Davidson founded, and served as Chairman, of Top Driver, Inc. the first nationwide branded driver education company. Top Driver owned and operated 225 training facilities in Ohio, Indiana, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania and Connecticut and has developed strategic relationships with Ford Motor Company, MetLife Auto, and other industry leaders to establish nationwide standards for driver education. Building the company to 650 employees, Top Driver became the largest teen and novice driver education company in the United States. Davidson has raised in excess of $45 Million of equity financing for Top Driver. The Company sold to an affiliate of Ford Motor Company. Prior to Top Driver, Mr. Davidson was actively involved in identifying, developing and commercializing technology in the field of agricultural biotechnology originating from the University of California system. In 1991 Mr. Davidson founded Seren Agricorp and served as its Chairman and CEO until its sale to an investment group. In 1986 Mr. Davidson founded and was Chairman of Genetrix, Inc., which became the nation's largest privately held genetic disease testing company with over 300 employees and 7 laboratories in key metropolitan areas throughout the United States. The company focused on prenatal birth defect testing, tissue and organ transplant testing, and molecular DNA analysis of of cancers and leukemias. Genetrix was sold to biotech giant Genzyme in February 1996. Mr. Davidson served on the Industrial Advisory Task Force for, and as an advisor to, the Director of the University of California Office of Technology Transfer, the largest university developer of proprietary technology in the United States, with an annual research budget of $3.5 billion. Davidson served on the business review committee for the Advanced Technology Program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (“NIST”) a congressionally mandated program with a $200 million budget for new business development. Mr. Davidson served as a guest lecturer at the Stern School of Business, Berkley Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at New York University (NYU) in New York City as well as at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Davidson served as the Co-Chairman of The Telecommunications and Information Technology Institute (IT2) at Florida International University. Funded by the State of Florida, private industry and the Federal government IT2 pioneers new core technologies in the areas of networking, wireless and mobile. In 2010 Mr. Davidson was the Co-Business Chair, along with an executive from AT&T, for the IEEE Globecom Conference, the premier global telecommunications event for over 2,000 industry professionals. In the hospitality sector Davidson has worked with domestic and international destination management companies (DMCs) and production companies to produce corporate and film events. Clients include Nike, Rolls-Royce, Sony, Louis XIII, Microsoft, Absolut, LVMH, NBC, CBS, HP, Cisco and FedEx. Celebrity participants include Vice President Al Gore, Jay Z, Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade, Jennifer Lopez, Jamie Foxx, Julio and Enrique Iglesias, Kim Kardashian, Gabrielle Union, Pit Bull, OneDirection, and others. Since 1984 Davidson has founded companies that together have employed over 1,000 people during which time he has gained extensive experience in complex business operations. Since 2003 Davidson has gained experience in land use and zoning issues as well as in the hospitality industry. Mr. Davidson is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (1984), and holds a Bachelor of Science in Genetics. Davidson is a licensed fixed-wing and helicopter pilot. Mr. Davidson currently lives full time in Miami Beach in ‘The Temple House’, a 70+ year-old, 14,000 square foot Art Deco property originally designed by famed architect L. Murray Dixon. In 2003 Davidson converted the property from a synagogue to his residence. The property recently won ‘The Most Spectacular Restoration Award’ in the City of Miami Beach as awarded by the Chamber of Commerce. The property was restored over a 2 1/2 year period and is now one of the most iconic properties in Miami Beach. The Temple House has been showcased in domestic and international press over 100 times including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The London Times, The Robb Report and others.
